Biological Substances Packaging – Shipping Kits, Labels, Publications and How-to Training for shipping Biological Substances.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an information note on the correct methods for shipping swine flu specimens and virus isolates. Specimens collected directly from humans or animals that are suspected of being infected with the A (H1N1) virus, or have been confirmed as being infected, should be shipped as UN 3373 Category B infectious substances, while cultures must be shipped as UN 2814 Category A infectious substances.

For further guidance, see this instruction sheet (PDF), directly from the WHO website.

All NEW Webinars

Every day, biological substances and dry ice are transported from sites such as hospitals, medical clinics and scientific research locations.

To ensure the safety of the public, special rules apply to the transport of such potentially infectious agents, as well as the cooling agents often used to preserve them. Knowing how to classify and prepare these substances correctly for transport can mean the difference between easy, effective shipments versus delays, lost data, or perished specimens
